We recognize and celebrate the heritage and contributions of First Nations Inuit and Métis culture. Jasper National Park will celebrate National Indigenous Peoples Day with a day of festivities in Robson Park across the street from the library.

Their population is estimated at about 17.

It is a special occasion to learn more about the rich and diverse cultures voices experiences and histories of First Nations Inuit and Métis peoples. We also extend thanks to the community partners that help guide this shared opportunity toward Indigenous. Its a special occasion to learn more about the rich and diverse cultures voices experiences and histories of First Nations Inuit and Métis peoples. 1 hour agoPeople of all ages gathered around a scared fire along with checking out the booths for food crafts games and information in City Park as part of the grand opening ceremonies of the Tipi Moza Iron Homes on National Indigenous Peoples Day in Kingston Ont. Today and every day I encourage you to listen and amplify Indigenous voices and stories.

This day commemorates the distinct cultures and unique traditions of native communities as well as the many achievements of the countrys indigenous peoples. The day was first celebrated in 1996 after it was proclaimed that year by then Governor General of Canada Roméo LeBlanc to be celebrated annually on 21 June.
